dc.description.abstractThe use of new technology such as e-wallet has impacted various sectors including the philanthropic sector. To improve zakat management, zakat institutions in Malaysia have an opportunity to use e-wallet payment technology to increase efficiency. Zakat collection in Wilayah Persekutuan is considered relatively high compared to other states, mainly contributed by Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur. This study aimed to identify the factors affecting payment of zakat via e-wallet in Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur. In addition, the study also investigated how zakat payers prioritise their zakat payments based on social objectives. A survey was conducted and the data analysed using the descriptive method, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis. Out of five factors, perceived usefulness, security and privacy, and amount of information were found to have a significant correlation with payment of zakat via e-wallet in the state. In contrast, perceived ease of use and trust were not found as significant factors. The study confirmed that perceived usefulness is the most impactful factor affecting payment of zakat via e-wallet. This study also found religious awareness as the main social objective that motivates how zakat payers prioritise their zakat payments, followed by altruism and economic growth.en_US
